This giant cedar appeared to have recently fallen when we discovered it last June (2009) on the north side of Wassen Creek in BLMs ACEC. It likely had been a standing dead tree providing wildlife habitat for many years prior to its falling. As a fallen tree, it will continue to provide carbon storage, water storage and wildlife habitat along with providing nutrients to the forest for many decades.
